Pirate Parties

Arrgggh ye ready for some pirate party ideas? See I told you I tend to get corny, can't help it.
Anyway these are a few pics of the things I made for my son and daughter's birthday parties.

Both in separate months, actually my son wanted a pirate theme two years in a row, and wanted his party to be a Chuck-E-Cheese pizza place. How can you do it up right pirate there? So I had to settle on the invites and favors to create the theme. That and the treasure chest cake that I saw ideas for online, only I'm not a great baker so I had the local supermarket make me a plain chocolate frosted cake. Then I added my own treasure . All in all the party was great and my little man had so much fun as you can see by the giant grin. For my daughter we mixed themes. She wanted a swimming party and pirates. But princess pirates of course. Hmmm. I got it. Tropical and Pirates go perfect together think Caribbean. Luckily I saved the paper treasure chest that I didn't get to use with my son and gave it a glam make over. Then I used my cricut for all the pirate die cuts and went to town. The favor bags were from the dollar store and I ironed on fabric skulls to match the theme. These were hidden in the treasure box that the kids had to find on a treasure hunt. I also used a premade birthday banner purchased at Hobby Lobby, and added fabric ties to coordinate and of course more die cuts. To incorporate the pool theme I tied on black glittered tulle to pink leis purchased at the party store. And gave pink flamingos that were scattered around the yard a touch of pirate. Pretty cute for a few bucks stop at the Target dollar section. The party guests also got a crown and an eye patch to finish off their loot. And of course the easy treasure chest cake again. Only this time with the heat of May in AZ it didn't fair so well. About oh 9sec. before the guests arrived the top slid back due to melting frosting, and collapsed into the cake getting the Happy Birthday greeting all dirty. Oh well, I learned a valuable lesson. Take a picture of the cake immediately upon completion, before disaster strikes. I laugh now at the pictures.

And it begins...

Ok, it's officially my first post in blogland. Yay! I am creating this blog to share my projects, party ideas, and all things creative. If nothing, it is for me to create something happy. Too many things these days are stressful and depressing. You never know what life may hand you, but one thing is for sure, you can choose to make the best of it or let it crumble you. I chose to make the best of it, and while I'm at it, make something cute too!
I love the way crafting can take away stress (well if I don't let my perfectionist ways ruin it). I can have a crazy busy day and sit down at my scrapbook desk and leave my troubles behind.
So my friends, lets create something happy!
